Does access to condoms prevent teen pregnancy??

In today's world teen pregnancy is a very controversial topic an the factors that can cause this and prevent it create many questions. One question though in particular stands out, which I would like to inform an provide more information on to have you as a reader create a better understanding of both teen pregnancy and the factors that can cause it but also prevent it.

To start off what are those factors that can cause teen pregnancy??

  • Peer pressure
  • Absent parents
  • Glamorization of pregnancy
  • Lack of knowledge
  • Sexual abuse or rape
  • Teen drinking

To read more on why those are factors Click Here!

The factors that I'm more interested in is how can teen pregnancy be prevented! Teen pregnancy can be prevented by:
  • Abstinence
  • Birth Control
  • Condoms
So these factors lead me to the question Does access to condoms prevent teen pregnancy?? The answer to that is your own opinion but here's so more information to help you create your own an to further you knowledge.

"Six in ten high school students who are sexually active reported they used condoms at their most recent sexual intercourse."

The statistics for the use of condoms among teens are increasing according to Teen Help an with it increasing, the access of condoms seems very good and easy for teens. But according to pediatricians around the world from NBC news and CNN health they think that condoms should be more available to teens that are both planning to be sexually active and those who already are.

Along with the pediatricians who want to make them more accessible they say that condom use and using them as a prevention would be most effective with sexual education. Why you ask? With providing the education it gives more information on many topics and includes risk factors of not being protected like the diseases that can be sexually transmitted.

In the end, with just just the few topics I discussed but the many links I provided, the only people who can stop teen pregnancy is the teens themselves. Whether the access to condoms is improved for teens or not there is no way in finding out until scientific research has been conducted. For now it is just in the opinion stage of peoples different views on this controversial topic.

So what is your opinion?? Fill out the poll at the top!

Make sure to check out the many ways condoms are effective according to the Advocates For Youth!
