Online Biography Proposal

For my online biography I will be covering it on Steve Dripps. Dripps has over come adversity by serving several years in the army and making a successful life after. He suffers from PTSD, but continues to go on with everyday life having a family, working and everyday activities. I plan to discuss his life before joining, while in the army, life after the army and much more including the future. Besides him over coming adversity this will be a great biography on an interesting person. I plan to have interview videos with him, along with someone who is close with him. Besides the videos I will incorporate photo's and a timeline of his life using one of the media outlets we used over the semester. Lastly this will give my blog audience and inside look into a veterans life and what it was and is like for him.

Opening Day of Rifle in Pennsylvania

Opening Day of Rifle in Pennsylvania, the Monday after Thanksgiving can be a big event for some and for others not so much. Deer hunting and the use of firearms is a very controversial topic. This Meograph about opening day and hunting gives some more information on the topic itself and it also provides the view of a supporter of hunting and also the view of someone who is not a supporter. #nmjatsru #meograph #openingday #hunting

Meograph Mapping/ Timeline Proposal --- Opening Day

For my meograph mapping/ timeline blog post I am proposing to cover opening day of rifle in Pennsylvania along with what hunting season means to both people who participate and support hunting and also those who do not support hunting. I plan to start my project off with when opening day of rifle first started. I will map where the PA game commission is located. Also I will provide mapping related to interviews incorporated into the project along with where people can purchase license’s and the certain zoning for certain tags hunters can get. Also provide some more information on deer hunting.

This topic for this project is newsworthy because of timing due to it will be happening this year on December first. Also the closer and closer the day gets the number of deer of Pennsylvania along with SRU students covering proximity and significance because it requires a lot of safety concerns to the public, deer are everywhere, along with this topic is very controversial.  For prominence this is an on-going event that happens every year, but recently with the gun regulations being up in many politic talks, hunting and deer season may be at risk. This topic also covers human interest because there are many people who are involved with this but also people who are against it as mentioned earlier.   being hit by cars increases. This story impacts a lot of people all over the state

November 4th-General Election Day

Adams Twp, November 4, 2014, 7am

November fourth, known as Election Day every year has come. Residents across the United States are showing their opinions on who they want to best represent their county and state. Here we are focusing on the election in the state of Pennsylvania and in more detail in Adams Township of Butler County. This Election this year is known as the General Election, which residents will cast votes for the State Governor, Lieutenant Governor, U.S. House and State House. The big talk though for this election is who to chose for governor? Will it be Tom Corbett returning to office since being voted in, in 2011 or will he lose to his competitors Tom Lineaweaver who is an independent or Tom Wolf who is a democrat?
Outside several signs were placed around the Adams Township building to display who was running and also doing some last minute campaigning.
The main competition though is between Corbett and Wolf. They share their ideas to help win votes by many topics including voter ID laws, the death penalty, the size of the Legislature and easing penalties on marijuana. Along with different ideas on those topics they do however, have the same view on other topics including that the state should enact pay equity legislation to bring gender equity to the workplace. Out of all of these topics weather they disagree or agree with each other the main issue at hand for the younger generation of voters is education. To get more of a breakdown and each governor’s view including the education issue and many more issues click here!

In the video below it shows the point of view of walking into the Adams Township building on Election Day. Two people are standing outside performing last minute campaigning by handing out materials to voters. They were not interested in commenting on the election.

This area along with many other western Pennsylvania townships and counties were very important in the election this year.  They were important because both Corbett and Wolf made their last minute push to voters by ending their campaigning yesterday in Pittsburgh for the last day of campaigning before the election. More local coverage on their visit to pittsburgh can be found here!

A sample of what the voters below saw on the ballot in Adams Township, Click here! Feel free to even enter in your own address to see your local ballot.
Inside one of the voting rooms in the Adams Township building many residents wait to sign in and to vote. In the morning much of the older generation was seen voting.
With much of the older generation voting this morning many were in a rush to get off to work, and not willing to give their time to comment on the election. However I did get to speak to Mr. Kella a local resident of Adams Township, who was willing to share his thoughts on the election.

Weather you’re a first time voter or a returning voter here is some more information on the election! Make sure to check back to your local news or one of the site links included in this story after 8pm when the polls close for the results!

KettleCorn Video Remix Proposal

For this assignment my proposal for the KettleCorn Video Remix is to cover the Steel City Stampede at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver,PA. This event is held every year which is becoming bigger and bigger each year. It is also referred to the "last weekend to play" referring to it being the last weekend for dirt car racing in western Pennsylvania. It brings not only drivers from many states but also fans. The Stampede is held over three days where different events are held on each night. To cover this event I will be attending one of the main nights over the weekend. This event is held Oct. 23-25. Also I will be able to locate what happens in different locations at the speedway.

If however something happens and I can not cover this event, I'm also looking into covering an on-going news event involving gas wells and the Mars Area School District. The only problem with this is being able to attend and find out when meetings are.

Pittsburgh Penguins Home Opener

Want a quick recap on what all happened at the Pittsburgh Penguin's Home Opener through my eyes as a fan? Check out the following timeline and what I did on Oct. 9 2014 for the start of the 2014-2015 Pittsburgh Penguins Ice Hockey season! This project I found was very fun but also hard to capture everything and move around the facility. Overall I felt like this was an amazing event to capture for not only Slippery Rock students but overall Penguins fans and hockey fans of all ages. I attend several games and this is mainly what I'll do at them and I even captured some quick entertaining videos!
